At Best friends childcare we employ only the best staff. Our staff team is dedicated, hard working, enthusiastic and each share a love to care for and inspire children. Our staff team are all up to date with the necessary training to ensure they have an outstanding understanding of how each child learns and develops when they are with us. We have many staff who have specialist qualifications and a range of skills to enhance the learning here at Best Friends.

Director - Gemma Gittins - Director of Childcare and General Manager

Hello and welcome to Best Friends Childcare Ltd website. I am the proprietor at Best Friends Childcare and we have a sister nursery in London Colney. I have 20 years experience at all levels with the last 10 years being in a management role.
I am self-motivated and a positive individual, who can either work on my own or within a team.
I have a great rapour with, children, staff and parents and enjoy a challenge. To achieve my full potential I set myself personal goals and encourage this amongst my staff. Trust and motivation of staff is paramount in creating a great team. I am ambitious, reliable and capable of bring comfort, support, guidance and help to the profession I am dedicated too.
I am passionate about my job, making sure that I go above and beyond in making sure that all parents are happy, content and secure in leaving their child within our care.

Stacey Roskilly - General Manager Designate

I have been apart of the Best Friends Team since January 2013, previously working as a Head of Room and a Nanny since leaving school. I have a Nvq Level 3 in Childcare and a Nvq Level 3 in Management. I am always looking to further develop my knowledge and skill set so will be undertaking my Level 5 qualification as from April 2017.
I am very passionate about my job and am dedicated to providing a welcoming environment where the children in our care can come to learn and socialise. Supporting the staff in the setting is also very important to me, I am constantly thinking of ways to improve our practice, not just developing myself but the team around me.
I love watching the children grow and mature on a daily basis and building bonds with their parents to ensure a close working in partnership relationship.

Sian Smith - Assistant Manager

I re-joined the Best Friends team in January 2017, my previous roles include paediatric nursery nurse and children’s centre worker as well as running crèches abroad. I have a broad range of knowledge and skills which help to give me a strong understanding of the child as a whole. I love watching the children grow and develop on a daily basis and helping to support the team to plan fun activities for the children is one of the best parts of the job.

Jessica Williams - Nursery Practitioner - Caterpillar Room

I have worked at Best Friends Since May 2014, gaining my level 2 Team Leadership, as well as certificates in Childcare, First Aid, Safeguarding, Food Hygiene and Fire Marshal. I love seeing how the children grow and develop and get a sense of satisfaction that I have been a part of them meeting their milestones. I really enjoy planning new and exciting activities for the children and watching their interactions.

Charlotte Blackwell - Assistant Nursery Practitioner - Butterfly Room

I have been a part of the Best Friends team since June 2015, completing my NVQ level 2 in childcare. I love watching the children grow and develop into bright individuals.

Charlotte Morris - Senior Nursery Practitioner

Hi my name is Charlotte and I have worked at Best Friends since July 2015. I have worked in both in the After School Club and the Nursery giving me experience with a variety of age groups. I gained my Level 3 qualification in January 2017 which really gave me a better understanding into a child’s development and how they learn. I enjoy getting to know each child individually and being able to fulfil their needs.

Courtney Francis -Butterfly Room Assistant Nursery Practitioner

I have worked at Best Friends since October 2016, previously working at another day nursery and gaining my NVQ level 2. I also hold certificates in First Aid, Safeguarding and Basic Food Hygiene. I am looking forward to completing my level 3 NVQ and learning new skills. I love working with the children, developing bonds with them and helping to them to meet their milestones.

Karit Jalast -Assistant Nursery Practitioner

My name is Kairit and I have been working at Best Friends Childcare since April 2016. Over this time I have worked in the Butterfly, Caterpillar Room and Afterschool Club. I have had my own keygroup since September 2016, aging from 9 -21 months. As of June 2017 I will be level 2 qualified and I’m looking forward to developing my skills further.

Sue Tomkins – Assistant Club Practitioner

My name is Sue and I have previously worked for the the NHS blood transition service for 33 years. I then took an early retirement from the NHS not sure what I wanted to do next. I previously also worked as a dinner lady and have 3 children of my own as well as my first grandchild. I have always enjoyed looking after my children and my grandchild so decided to look into the options of working with children when I came across the job at Best Friends. I was so pleased when I got offered the job, it’s so different to my previous roles. I plan to work for as long possible, if I remain healthy. I love working with the children as every day is different and even though the children have the odd squabble I find it easy to reason with them and solve any problems.

 
   

Robyn Cooper – Assistant Club Practitioner

Hi I’m Robyn and I work in the breakfast and after-school club. I really enjoy working with the different age ranges and meeting the children’s needs. I have gained many different qualifications with Best Friends, such a paediatric first aid, basic food hygiene and safeguarding.

 
   

Reakha Amin – Assistant Club Practitioner

 Hi, I’m Rekha. I have worked at best Friends childcare for 2 years and have previous experience of working as a lunch time assistant. I also have two children of my own. I aim a qualified first aider as well as having certificates in safeguarding and food hygiene. I always enjoying working with the children as I find my job very rewarding.
